Dr. Naderi,
Had a quick question.  Had revision rhinoplasty about 8 months ago with some ear cartilage grafts.  Nose has been itching.  Have obviously picked and rubbed it.  Just curious if that could cause a problem in the healing phase or after 8 months is the nose completely healed and set.  I don't want to ruin the outcome that I got.  Thanks.

Kevin

Answer

Hi,

At 8 months your nose should be well on its way to complete healing if not already there.  Too much trauma to skin and soft tissue in form of extreme itching or manipulation can cause problems even with non-operated noses but as long as you have not caused bleeding, you should be just fine.  See your surgeon to be examined.  There are some medications that can help with post-op itching.
