Computer Imaging
Computer Imaging
also known and "digital photo morphing" is one of the most important parts of a thorough Rhinoplasty or Revision Rhinoplasty consultation. Computer Imaging involves the morphing (changing) or manipulation of a patient's digital picture to accurately show what his or her nose and face may look like after undergoing a Rhinoplasty or Revision Rhinoplasty.
After Dr. Naderi speaks with you, and fully understands your desires and goals he will combine that information with what he finds on a physical examination of your nose. Finally, he will take your digital picture and using state-of-the-art computer imaging software, specifically designed for Plastic Surgeons, he will alter the shape of your nose and show you what you may look like after a nasal reshaping surgery, before you ever undergo surgery!
Computer Imaging allows you and your surgeon to agree on what your nose should look like before going through surgery. Too many times in the past, patients would blindly trust their surgeon’s personal aesthetic sense and not know what their nose would look like until the cast was finally removed a week after surgery! We believe this is not in the best interest of patients and our patients will always know what to expect to look like before ever going through surgery.
Dr. Naderi uses Computer Imaging as a discussion tool and not a marketing tool. He will show you often within 90% to 99% certainty what you may look like after surgery (see picture examples below).
In certain situations, Computer Imaging may actually dissuade a patient wisely from going through a Rhinoplasty surgery. An example of this would be an "ethnic patient" with extremely thick skin and weak cartilages who unrealistically expects to have a very sharply defined "Northern European type nose." Dr. Naderi will accurately show this patient what is safely and realistically possible based on the patient’s own unique anatomy and leave the final decision to the patient. As you can imagine, it is much better for such a patient with potentially unrealistic expectations to see with his or her own eyes what is realistically possible in the hands of an expert Rhinoplasty Surgeon, prior to ever undergoing surgery.
Although Computer Imaging has not become the norm or standard of practice amongst Plastic Surgeons due to its high cost and time consumption, Dr. Naderi believes that it should be an integral part of any complete Rhinoplasty or Revision Rhinoplasty dialogue and consultation. More importantly, the images shown to patients must be accurate and that is why Dr. Naderi performs all of his own imaging because only the surgeon who has examined the patient and plans on performing the surgery can truly tell what is realistically possible during Rhinoplasty. Computer imaging done by someone other than the surgeon does not have the same accuracy or value.
In the pictures below you can clearly see that Dr. Naderi's "imaged" pictures are almost 100% identical to the actual post-operative results. This is why you are in good expert hands when you choose Dr. Naderi as your Rhinoplasty Surgeon in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, or Maryland.
