We tend to believe that the rich and famous can afford the best of everything, from mansions and sports cars, to jewelry, designer duds and more. Unfortunately, wealth and fame don’t always ensure good results in cosmetic surgery, particularly nose surgery. In fact, in Hollywood, bad nose jobs seem to be a dime a dozen.
Rapper Lil’ Kim often comes to mind when discussing bad nose jobs. Her first surgery left her nose looking unnatural and deformed with odd divots just above each nostril. This was coupled with what looked to be very prominent cheek bones. Lil’ Kim seems to have had another nose surgery which improved the depressions a bit but left her nose still thin and unnatural.
Actress Jennifer Grey is perhaps best known for her roles in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Dirty Dancing, as well as for her nose job. While the result of her nose job wasn’t technically bad, it so dramatically changed her look as to make her nearly unrecognizable. In fact, many blame the downslide of her career on her nose job and the loss of her distinctive nose.
Joan Rivers is often cited for her excess where plastic surgery is concerned. And while people often refer to her eyes, eyebrows, cheeks and mouth and the unnatural appearance these facial features have acquired, her nose has not escaped unscathed. In fact, her nose now looks unnatural and overdone along with the rest of her face and bares no resemblance to its original appearance.
The Jacksons. While many members of the Jackson family appear to have had plastic surgery, and rhinoplasty in particular, the worst results occurred in LaToya and, of course, Michael. Pictures of LaToya from the early 80s show a nice, natural nose that fits well with her other facial features. Today, LaToya’s nose is far too small, cartoonish and unnatural for her face, or for anyone’s face for that matter. Michael’s nose was similar to LaToya’s and, at one point, seemed on the verge of collapse, likely due to too much work.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most intricate and complex of all plastic surgery procedures. In order to achieve optimal results, a surgeon must have the appropriate training and skills as well as an artistic eye. For this reason, it is essential that patients who are interested in rhinoplasty seek out a board certified facial plastic or plastic surgeon with extensive training and experience in rhinoplasty.
