What type of anesthesia is typically used for a nose job? I’ve read in some places where general is used, other times local and sometimes with sedation. Why the difference and what are the pros and cons?
Various types of anesthesia can be used for rhinoplasty. Typically most surgeons use general because it protects the rhinoplasty patient’s airway. Sedation is also used especially when doctors take short cuts to save money and do the rhinoplasty in their office or under-equipped surgery centers. Local may also be used but numbing the nose is painful.
